Two Spot

Named after the two-spot octopus, the one you find jammed deep into a crack in the reef or wedged under a piling, gripping onto whatever ugly, unglamorous spot it's claimed. This board does the same. It doesn't wait for good conditions to show up; it grips onto whatever's actually out there and gets on with it.

Every surfer moves differently on their backside than their frontside, but most boards are shaped like that asymmetry doesn't exist; one rail line asked to do two different jobs. The Two Spot doesn't pretend that problem away. It's built purposely asymmetric, with two different rail shapes, one for each side of your stance. On your toeside, the rail runs longer and thinner, holding a straighter line so you can carry speed and draw your turns out. On your heelside, the rail is shorter and more forgiving, with more curve built in, so backside turns come around quicker and don't have to be forced. The board isn't built even because your surfing isn't even. It's built to make your backside as critical and accessible as your frontside already is.

Under the feet, it's a medium rocker, flattened through the middle to hold speed through slow, weak sections, with plenty of curve left in it to turn when a wave has something to offer. The outline is a gentle, even curve from nose to tail, with no severe hips or tapers. That keeps it reliable and dependable through every turn. It also holds a good amount of foam through the middle, so you're not fighting to get into waves before you've even reached the rail work.

Designed to be the board you grab without thinking twice, there isn't a day the Two Spot won't work. Built for intermediate to advanced surfers, it holds up when the surf is nothing special, doesn't fall apart when things go soft and mushy, and never falters when the swell pushes into overhead range. It excels in the pocket and loves shape and push, but doesn't need either to be worth paddling out on. Best in chest high to overhead-plus, with room to work at either edge of that range. Both sides of your surfing will feel like they're working with the same board instead of arguing with it.
