Sea Rat

Rats don't get much credit. Neither do most surfers. This board is dedicated to the surfers who paddle out again and again, keeping the stoke alive. To the ones who don't need a highlight reel, or an audience, to keep going. To those who give everything they've got in the dark, regardless of whether anyone's watching. The Sea Rat is built for that — for the surfer who shows up either way, and always will.

It's a squash tail built for performance first. Entry and exit rocker run medium-high, but with a touch more foam hidden under the chest than most performance shortboards. This lets you ride the board a bit shorter than you'd otherwise need, giving you high-performance surfing on good waves without the extra length or bloat up front. A slight hip is worked into the outline ahead of the tail and pulls the back in, creating a pivot point that makes the board responsive and lively. The bottom contour is a moderate single blended into a double through the fins, set up for solid speed and stability once it's on rail. The rails are on the forgiving side for a performance shortboard, carrying good volume to keep you driving through turns.

This is a great option for intermediate to advanced surfers in shoulder-high and bigger waves. The Sea Rat loves waves with push and wants to be surfed in the pocket; it's built for tight carves and explosive snaps, stable in the tube and fast down the line. This is the board for when San Diego turns it on, and it's just as ready for demanding waves anywhere else in the world.
